I enjoy Tai Chi because I am a difficult person to
convince. I need proof.
And, for me, Tai Chi provided proof that it works. Both as a martial art,
a way of adding some relax-time to my usually fraught days and a way of
keeping my body supple and fitter than if I did not do Tai Chi.
I also enjoy the challenge of teaching Tai
Chi. People are often sceptical and it is a real pleasure to me when the
light bulb goes on above their heads and they say "Ooh, I think I
get that".
Tai Chi tends to attract intelligent people who are not fooled by nonsense,
so the challenge of keeping things fresh and interesting is appealing
too.
I started Tai Chi because I had tried various exercise programs involving
more traditional stuff like running, swimming, weights, etc. I bore quickly
and these pursuits, although of use, quickly became dull and repetitive.
